The Sculptress Joel (Jo Walker) specialises in detailed sculpture portraits of people and animals, and statues created for gardens, homes and landscapes.

Joel is able to take commissions on all her work, including animal and human portraits.

The animals captured by Joel in bronze include not only our national favourites, but also other species that need conservation help. Joel is passionate about nature and her work is used to raise awareness and funds for environment conservation projects both in the UK and overseas. From her background in zoology and ecology she has developed artwork known for its accuracy, form and complexity. She works on the wax stage, patination and selection of bases to make many installations unique.

“I love the way bronze can look so different and rich in different light and spaces, and how the curves and detail appeals to the eye and draws the touch. It has been exciting to work with added glass, stone and wood to make something unique, intriguing and I hope, inspiring.

For example the bronze bird sky-dancers are shown with a crescent moon, and with the Swifts above the Dawn Cloud with a super piece of Cloud Alabaster carved for them by Cliff Vince.

I have also researched and worked during most of the last challenging years to be able to bring the life sized Roe Deer Fawn statues.

Such a delicate yet strong creature, with those big eyes and ears and long, long legs!
